The McAllen metro area has recently ranked 21st and 32nd nationally as an electronic product export market and electrical component manufacturing export market, respectively, by the International Trade Administration. Unemployment down in RGV cities

The latest available numbers from the Texas Workforce Commission released last week show a decrease in unemployment for many RGV cities in August from July. McAllen’s unemployment rate for August was the lowest among Rio Grande Valley cities and the second lowest among all border cities in the state at 8.3 percent, following Laredo.
