About the Lamar Academy/IB Student Council

Held by the Lamar Academy/IB Student Council, the festival was the answer to the organization’s hope for sizable funds in its year-round quest to promote a sense of community. Its recent projects include working with the Catholic Charities to help immigrants who need assistance. Students also participated in clean-ups with the City of McAllen’s Keep McAllen Beautiful and Texas Recycles Day. Events have also included anti-bullying rallies, Say YES to Life-Suicide Awareness Event, the Domestic Violence Awareness Event and a Mental Health Fair. The group furthermore promotes school spirit, literacy and social consciousness about serious topics such as suicide, depression, cancer and bullying.

The Lamar Academy/IB Student Council is also raising funds to send students to the Texas Association of Student Councils’ annual State Student Council Convention.
