Keep McAllen Beautiful is now accepting applications for its annual Paint McAllen Beautiful project where KMB volunteers paint homes throughout McAllen, to help beautify the neighborhood. Qualifying McAllen applicants must be a McAllen resident, own the home, be low income, be 60 years of age or older, or be of any age with a permanent disability. Through a grant from Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep McAllen Beautiful will be able to fund paint and supplies for this year’s project.

The project will continue until funds have expired with qualified applicants.

“I encourage everyone in the community who qualifies for this amazing program to apply so that together, we can help keep McAllen beautiful,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. “Or, if you would like to volunteer, this is a great outdoor project that anyone can do and still make a difference in our city.”

Paint McAllen Beautiful will be coordinating with businesses, civic organizations, college groups and religious organizations to volunteer in a collaborative effort. Keep McAllen Beautiful Program Coordinator Chris Lash says safety measures are in place for volunteer groups.

Keep McAllen Beautiful is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to developing and expanding awareness regarding litter prevention, proper waste disposal, recycling, beautification projects and preserving the natural beauty of McAllen.

Applications are available at McAllen City Hall or McAllen Chamber of Commerce, as well as online at keepmcallenbeautiful.org.
