On Dec. 7, the City of McAllen held its annual McAllen Holiday Parade, the largest illuminated holiday parade in Texas. Presented by H-E-B, the parade featured 39 giant balloons and 55 illuminated floats all set to celebrate McAllen as the official South Pole of Texas.

The parade began at the McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium with a route following Bicentennial towards Business 83. Parade viewing was free along the route, with stadium seating also available in advance with tickets. Local residents and celebrities all rode along in floats decorated by numerous local businesses, schools, commissioners. Special float guests even included those from the Dallas Cowboys.

More than 4,800 participants and volunteers assisted this spectacular parade with more than 250,000 spectators enjoying the show in person. Those who could not attend could also watch from home as the parade aired live on all local channels.

Alongside the parade was Holiday in the Park with vendors and a carnival to enjoy.
