Mario Lizcano and Linda Tovar are the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce’s Man & Woman of the Year, respectively. The two receive the honors due to their positive impact on the Edinburg community. According to the chamber, both “demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to civic engagement to benefit our community.”

Mario Lizcano currently serves as DHR Health’s administrator of Corporate Affairs. He also serves as Edinburg Census Committee chairman, promoting efforts towards healthcare. He is also the recipient of the 2020 DHR Health Hero Award for his community involvement from Texas State Representative Terry Canales. In addition, State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. and the State of Texas honored Lizcano with the Chairman award.

Linda Tovar is the H-E-B senior manager of Public Affairs. The chamber cites her continuous drive to help the Edinburg community as instrumental in her honor. Tovar dedicates hours to advocate for education and health with community events. These include the Edinburg 10k, Edinburg Cares Drive and the Texas Cook’Em Veteran Scholarship.

Tovar’s service includes the Easters Seals RGV and VAMOS board. Most recently, Linda was honored as one of the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Woman of Distinction – Professional. She is also the recipient of the UTPA Intercollegiate Women’s Athletic Award and one of the final UTPA Pillar of Success recipients.
