VIDA Receives State Training Grant

VIDA trainingValley Initiative for Development and Advancement is one of 44 Texas nonprofits recently receiving recognition from Texas Mutual for its initiatives in workforce development. VIDA’s $41,667 grant from Texas Mutual will go towards workforce development, training VIDA students in target demand occupations.

“We are immensely thankful to Texas Mutual Foundation for selecting VIDA as one of its grant recipients during COVID-19 recovery,” said VIDA Deputy Executive Director Felida Villarreal. “Career training programs and human capital investment must be prioritized in these challenging times. It is our mission with this award to expand accessibility to quality workforce training programs to socioeconomically disadvantaged students across the RGV and impact sustainable economic growth.”

For 26 years, VIDA has helped over 6,000 economically-disadvantaged valley residents achieve workforce success through long-term career training. In 2021, VIDA assisted 464 participants pursue careers in target demand occupations and prepare them to enter the workforce earning family sustaining wages. Its persistence rate was 93 percent with the average annual salary upon their graduation being $45,614.
