SUMMARY:Gardening for Wildlife
DESCRIPTION:Gardening for Wildlife\, presented by the Center for Urban Ecology\, introduces how and why guests can use plants for beautiful and wildlife-friendly gardens on Jan. 7. From 2-3 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlan. learn more about the native plants of the Rio Grande Valley\, which ones attract different animals\, and why they are important to wildlife while also benefiting people. \nThere are more than 1\,200 plants considered native to the Rio Grande Valley\, from large shade trees to subtle ground covers\, that could potentially be used in cities\, towns and yard landscapes. \n“The goal of Gardening for Wildlife is to encourage and help participants to feel more comfortable using native plants in their spaces\,” says John Brush\, program instructor. “We want people to leave the program with ideas on what plants they can use and knowledge of resources to help them plan their garden.” \nGardening for Wildlife is for both beginner and experienced gardeners alike. \nGardening for Wildlife is an indoors program. Participants must register in advance at quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com. Workshop admission is $5 per person. \nFor more information\, call Quinta Mazatlan or email the Center for Urban Ecology at center4urbanecology@gmail.com.
