Families are encouraged to arrive early for this special appearance and enjoy a fun photo opportunity before the educational presentation begins. \nThe featured guest of the evening is David Moellendorf\, an arachnid expert known for his appearances on the Discovery Channel\, National Geographic and his own television series Phobias. With more than 30 years of experience studying and working with spiders\, Moellendorf will guide guests through a fascinating live presentation featuring real spiders and surprising facts about their behavior\, anatomy and ecological impact. \nMoellendorf’s passion for arachnids began in childhood\, when he snuck a spider into his home. a moment that sparked a lifelong fascination. Since then\, he has collected and catalogued DNA from various species and at one point housed over 600 spiders in his apartment. Through years of research and hands-on experiences\, he brings a deep understanding and contagious enthusiasm that will both inform and inspire. \nGuests of all ages are invited to enjoy this up-close encounter with the world of spiders while enjoying an evening outdoors at the beautiful Quinta Mazatlán nature center. The walking trail at Quinta Mazatlán will feature oversized\, six-foot-tall storybook pages from the children’s book Cicada Symphony by Lisa Kobman. This illustrated story follows the life of 17-year cicadas through rhyming verses and fun facts\, making science approachable and fun for young readers. \nAs guests walk the trail\, they will also enjoy live music performed by talented string musicians from the RGV Jazz Collective\, providing a beautiful background to the natural setting. Local food and beverage vendors will be on-site with a variety of refreshments to enjoy throughout the evening. \nParking for the event will be located at 1400 Wichita Ave. A complimentary charter bus will shuttle guests to and from Quinta Mazatlán beginning at 6 p.m.\, with return trips running until 9 p.m. for added convenience. \nTickets are $5 per person\, with children age 2 and under admitted free of charge. Meet Nature’s Clean-up Crew at ReFest with Sky King’s Falconry on Nov. 16 at Quinta Mazatlán. \nReFest\, sponsored by H-E-B\, celebrates Texas Recycles Day. Bring your plastic bag or bottle to be recycled at the festival for a free ticket thanks to H-E-B’s commitment to recycling. Guests will enjoy an Upcycled Marketplace with vendors\, sustainable trade show and native plants for sale. The children will have fun playing in the Cardboard Playscape\, tinker in the Recycled Tech Space\, create recycled art and have fun learning. \nSky King’s Falconry offers three shows\, 10:30 a.m.\, 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. at ReFest. They will introduce vultures and other birds of prey\, including a residential Crested Caracara\, in the falcon family whom behave similar to vultures in consuming carcasses. Their scavenging activity controls spread of disease\, helps to recycle nutrients back into the soil\, and acts as natural waste management. The presence of Nature’s Clean Up Crew supports biodiversity and enhances ecosystem resilience which all life is dependent on. \nAdmission is $5\, or bring a plastic bag or water bottle to get in free. DESCRIPTION:With this year’s H-E-B Feast of Sharing dinner\, H-E-B\, with the help from its Mobile Kitchens\, will serve traditional Texas-style meals at all its dinner locations in the state. Each event is filled with music\, activities for the family and a variety of free services such as health and wellness screenings and flu vaccinations. Some gatherings even get a visit from Santa! Additionally\, in select cities\, H-E-B Partners (employees) and other volunteers will deliver holiday meals to homebound seniors and others who are unable to attend the event. \nThe H-E-B Feast of Sharing is a series of festive gatherings that include more than 340\,000 meals served during 34 dinners throughout Texas and Mexico. Filled with food\, music\, and good cheer\, these free holiday feasts are open to the public and bring together family\, friends and neighbors. Launched in 1989\, the H-E-B Feast of Sharing gives the company an opportunity to give thanks to its loyal customers and invites everyone to our holiday dinner table. In the more than three decades H-E-B has held the celebrations\, more than 375\,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly four million meals. \nThis initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program\, which works year-round to prevent hunger. Last year\, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program donated 34 million pounds of food to families in need. Since 1982\, the year the program was founded\, H-E-B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5\,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico. \nVolunteer sign-up is online.
