Additionally\, in select cities\, H-E-B Partners (employees) and other volunteers will deliver holiday meals to homebound seniors and others who are unable to attend the event. \nThe H-E-B Feast of Sharing is a series of festive gatherings that include more than 340\,000 meals served during 34 dinners throughout Texas and Mexico. Filled with food\, music\, and good cheer\, these free holiday feasts are open to the public and bring together family\, friends and neighbors. Launched in 1989\, the H-E-B Feast of Sharing gives the company an opportunity to give thanks to its loyal customers and invites everyone to our holiday dinner table. In the more than three decades H-E-B has held the celebrations\, more than 375\,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly four million meals. \nThis initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program\, which works year-round to prevent hunger. Last year\, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program donated 34 million pounds of food to families in need. Since 1982\, the year the program was founded\, H-E-B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5\,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico. \nVolunteer sign-up is online.

DESCRIPTION:Families can be introduced to sign language\, deaf culture and even learn about careers in the deaf community at McAllen ISD’s DeafWorld 2024 on Sept. 27. \nThis free event\, which has a Super Hero theme\, takes place at McAllen ISD’s Brown Middle School gym and is organized by McAllen ISD’s Regional Day School for the Deaf Program. \n“We encourage everyone to come have some fun as they learn about deaf culture\, sign language\, deaf education\, careers\, resources and more\,” says RDSPD Director Liza Lara. \nMcAllen ISD serves more than 300 deaf and hard of hearing students in all grade levels in the Upper Rio Grande Valley from Mercedes to Roma. Escandon Elementary is home to elementary age deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Middle school age students go to Brown Middle School and high school age students go to McAllen Memorial High School. \nThe department also provides parent infant services. In addition\, Roosevelt Elementary houses the RDSPD’s new oral program and qualifying RDSPD students may attend McAllen ISD’s STRIDES 18+ program.
