She has also served on the Environmental Commission for the City of Austin. \nAdditionally\, Bristol has served on national and local boards and advisory teams for 25 years. She stepped away from her job at Texas Parks and Wildlife in 2019 to focus on writing\, and in April of 2020\, her first book “Parking Lot Birding: A Fun Guide to Discovering Birds in Texas\,” was published.
