For the rest of the month of August, The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center and Palm Valley Animal Center are hosting a “Clear the Shelter” event. With more than 100 dogs, and over 60 cats and kittens who need their forever homes, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the $10 adoption fee.

The $10 adoption fee includes the first series of vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies shot, ID tag and collar. It also includes a 30-day free trial of pet insurance.

Since their opening in 1974, the shelter’s facilities have grown from receiving several hundred animals a year, with 22 dog runs and nine cat kennels, to receiving more than 40,000 animals a year with 350 dog runs and 185 cat kennels. In addition, their staff has grown from a few volunteer helpers to more than 50 trained professionals.

Both shelters are hoping the public will continue to support their efforts by taking the time to come see, play with and hopefully adopt.
