Help Young Entrepreneurs with Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day participantsUp-and-coming young entrepreneurs will once again be participating in the successful McAllen Lemonade Day May 12. The free community-wide educational program teaches youth the necessary entrepreneurial skills to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand.

Businesses are being asked to help make young dreams of running a business reality. Participation can happen in various ways.

  • Provide a prize for “The Entrepreneur of the Year” or “The Best Stand” as a simple way to promote your business. The Entrepreneur of the Year is a prize that will be granted to the stand that collects the most revenue, as well as has a great story. The chamber plans on awarding the winners a basket of prizes donated by area businesses.
  • Offer your business as a location. If your business is in McAllen, and it also has restrooms available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you may host a location. Submitting a business as a location can be done online.
  • Encourage your employees to register their children. Businesses can run internal contests with their employees, as well as create a healthy sense of community involvement. The McAllen Chamber is willing to provide template emails for you to send to employees.

Volunteers may also register online, as well as youth wishing to participate with a lemonade stand. There is no cost to participate.
