The McAllen Chamber of Commerce hosts its GoodPitch Competition Nov. 17 with a first-place cash prize of $250. The competition gives participants an opportunity to polish and/or prepare two-minute elevator speeches to a potential business opportunity.
GoodPitch simulates the real-world process of promoting, selling or soliciting buy-into an idea, product, service or request. The judges will qualify the capacity of the speaker depending on how well the speaker takes them on the objective of the speech. The perfect elevator speech should have a good structure and organization. It should also be original with the speaker using good body language and voice, targeting correctly to the audience.
There is a $10 participation fee, and all the collected funds will be donated to a non-profit organization selected by the first place winner.
In addition to the first-place prize, second place receives $100 and third $50.
GoodPitch takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the McAllen Chamber.
