The Office of Veterans Affairs at South Texas College will host a Mid-Valley Veterans Expo April 25, consisting of area vendors distributing information of the benefits and services available to veterans in the community.
Vendors at the expo will assist veterans with applying for grants. Fund utilization options include rent, utilities and daycare for children, as well as tuition assistance and transportation. Organizations attending will provide a wide range of services. These include legal aid, mental health care, veterans’ benefit claims assistance, hearing loss and home care. Additional services include mortgage loans, small business start-up assistance and PTSD therapy assistance.
“The Expo is designed to bring awareness to veterans, especially student veterans and those organizations that provide services to veterans,” said Jessie Luna, STC Veterans Outreach coordinator. “This will be valuable not only for veterans, but also their dependents who are looking for assistance as they transition from military service into civilian life.”
The expo takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mid-Valley Campus at 400 North Border Ave, Weslaco.
