STHS Breaks Ground for New ER

Upcoming McAllen facility to be open 24 hours a day

Land at 3700 West Nolana in McAllen is now an active construction site for a new South Texas Health System free-standing emergency department.

STHS administrators and staff, as well as McAllen city leaders, chamber representatives and local law enforcement, broke ground for the facility on Jan. 18. Joining STHS were McAllen Mayor Jim Darling and McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez. Representatives from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and RGV Partnership also participated.

The eighth emergency room for STHS will be on the corner of Ware Road and Nolana. With a staff of medical personnel, it will offer the same diagnostic technology available in the system’s hospital-based emergency rooms.
