The UTRGV School of Nursing recently welcomed eight students from the Project HEAL2 program. The students hail from the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District and are prospective UTRGV nursing students
Project HEAL2 is a program from the Region One Education Service Center. The program provides high school students with an interest in a nursing career educational opportunities and experiences to kick start their career.
Students who successfully complete the program can graduate with an associate degree in nursing from STC. This is in addition to their high school diploma.
UTRGV joined the endeavor in March 2018, offering students a pathway to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Acceptance of the he PSJA students into the nursing program is contingent upon their completion of a few additional classes before they begin the BSN program. They must also maintain a grade point average higher than 3.5.
