Counseling Services, Medical Care Available
The new Knapp Medical Center/UTRGV Family Practice Residency Clinic is now offering counseling services in addition to medical care for patients of all ages. Located off Expressway 83 at 2810 W. Expressway 83 in Mercedes, the clinic includes 18 exam rooms and also provides mental health services.
The clinic is under the direction of Dr. Miguel Tello, family medicine physician and associate program director for the Knapp/UTRGV Family Practice Residency Program. The clinic also includes the services of six family practice resident physicians: Dr. Eddy Berges, Dr. Diego Moreno, Dr. Eliana Costantino Burgazzi, Dr. Miguel A. Sanchez Rivas, Dr. Carolina Gomez de Ziegler and Dr. Marita del Pilar Sanchez Sierra Marino. The staff also includes family nurse practitioner Nicole Guzman.
Mental health services are provided by Jennifer Ortega, a licensed professional counselor, behavioral scientist and assistant professor with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine. Appointments are available for cases involving anxiety, depression and other conditions, as well as for couples seeking marriage counseling.
The Knapp Medical Center/UTRGV Family Practice Residency Clinic is located next to the new Mid Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation skilled nursing facility. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted as well as those with appointments.
