Lemonade Day encourages youth entrepreneurship

Lemonade Day McAllen is coming May 13, and organizers are currently seeking sponsors, participants, volunteers, mentors and businesses to provide safe stand locations. A lemonade stand set up during lemonade day.

This event is a community-wide educational program. The process teaches youth the entrepreneurial skills necessary to start, own and operate their own business — a lemonade stand. Additionally, everyone in the community may participate.

Sponsors are in great need to underwrite the program and material costs for the program which is free of charge to participants. Sponsorship opportunities are available and sponsor logos can be displayed in backpacks and newspapers, as well as magazines and TV.

Volunteers activities include stuffing backpacks; distributing Lemonade Day informational materials to local schools, clubs and youth organizations; registering youth to participate at special events, and spreading the word about Lemonade Day online.
