RGV Day delegation accepting more participants

Representatives from McAllen, Edinburg Brownsville, Weslaco, Pharr, Harlingen, Rio Grande City, UTRGV, South Texas College, Texas A&M, RSTEC and other businesses are finishing plans for RGV Day, the one-day legislative outreach trip to the capitol in Austin for Feb. 7. Additionally, they are inviting community leaders, businesses and organizations to join them.

RGV Day provides residents, community and business leaders the opportunity to visit the state capitol and better understand the legislative process. In turn, the day shows officials RGV engagement in the legislative process and agenda items.

Events for the day include resolutions on the senate and house floors, as well as a luncheon with local legislators at the Sheraton Capitol Hotel, visits with all 181 legislators and an evening wine & hors d’oeuvres reception in the Legislative Conference Center located at the capitol.

The delegation leaves from McAllen the morning of Feb. 7 and returns Feb. 8. Cost to participate is $100, which covers round-trip transportation, the luncheon and evening reception. Hotel accommodations are not included.
