The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and Workforce Solutions will host a Job Fair for the Edinburg community Jan. 17 at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. Employers participating include the City of Edinburg, Biomat USA, Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance and Edinburg CISD. Other participants include Goodwill Industries, South Texas Health Systems, Wonderful Citrus and more.
“We are experiencing phenomenal growth throughout the city with more and more job creation and opportunity for our community,” said Edinburg Economic Development Director Joey Treviño. “As we prepare for this growth, we are working together with Workforce Solutions to ensure that these jobs are filled, continuing to decrease our unemployment rate.”
In the last few months, Edinburg has experienced the lowest unemployment rates the city has seen in more than years.
“This decrease in our unemployment rate is directly attributed to our growth in business development,” stated Michael Balderas, coordinator of Workforce Development, Small Business and Special Events at the Edinburg EDC. “We are proud to have so many new businesses opening shop in the City of Edinburg and are hosting this job fair to ensure that our community knows about the many job opportunities available to them,” he added.
More than 20 employers from retail, restaurants, schools, healthcare, telecommunications, government, produce, and other industries will be on-hand.
