IBC Bank-Brownsville awards $12,000 in local scholarships 

Twelve local graduating high school seniors have been awarded $1,000 each in scholarships from IBC Bank-Brownsville, bringing the bank’s A.R. Sanchez Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award total since 1985 to more than $260,000.

“The A.R. Sanchez, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award tangibly demonstrates IBC’s ‘We Do More’ philosophy and reiterates the bank’s ongoing support and promotion of higher education in our community,” IBC Bank-Brownsville President and CEO Fred Rusteberg said. “These deserving high school seniors are the future business men and women of our community, and we are honored to assist them in pursuit of their higher education goals.”

The scholarship program is named for the founder of IBC Bank and awards youth from low to moderate-income households.

Scholarship award recipients included: Natalie Garcia, Rivera Early College High School; Rosario Rodriguez, Port Isabel High School; Ivette Villarreal, Saint Joseph Academy; Janette Lopez, Veterans Memorial Early College High School; Anysha Fortenberry, Los Fresnos High School; Elieth Jaramillo, Hanna Early College High School; Mara Perez, IDEA Frontier College Preparatory; Jackelyne Gomez, Pace Early College High School; Armando Silva, Porter Early College High School; Alma Moreno, Lopez Early College High School; Jestine Sanchez, Harlingen High School; Jessica Chavez, Harlingen High School South.
