new VIa board chairman’s experience includes four years of airport board service
Mark J. Kroll is now chairman of the board with a unanimous vote by the Valley International Airport Board of Directors. Kroll is dean of the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship and professor of management at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In addition to VIA Board Chairman, he also oversees the College of Business in the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. He has been a member of the VIA board for four years.
“When Mayor Boswell asked me to serve on the airport board, I was excited to accept the challenge because aviation is a truly fascinating business and pivotal to the growth of the Rio Grande Valley,” said Kroll. “The airport administration covers so many areas of responsibility. I never stop learning something new with regards to the 24/7 operation that we proudly carry out at VIA.”
During his career, Kroll has worked and taught overseas, as well as published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, 80 papers and five books on strategic management. His research work primarily focuses on corporate governance and the role of top management teams in determining the performance of young, entrepreneurial firms.
