Deadline Approaches for $7,500 McAllen Grant Competition

McAllen Business Plan CompetitionThe deadline for the 2019 McAllen Business Plan Competition is fast approaching. Applicants have until May 24 at 4:30 p.m. to submit their business plan to possibly receive $7,500 from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the McAllen Economic Development Corporation.

The McAllen Business Plan Competition is an initiative to foster new business development in McAllen. The $7,500 prize goes to the applicant who presents the best and more feasible business plan. The competition is for new, independent, for-profit ventures in the seed or start-up stages in the McAllen area.

Applications may be from a business or team, with at least one member of the team being a resident of the City of McAllen.

The application process begins with an executive summary accompanying the application. A panel of judges will then review the executive summaries and select two or more projects for round two. This round will consist of submitting a full business plan by the selected projects. Those projects will also make a 10-minute oral presentation followed by a 10-minute round of questions and answers. Judges will select only one winner on the basis of both the business plan and the oral presentation.
