$2.9-Million Grant Funds Building Improvements
McAllen International Airport is receiving $2.935 million from the Federal Aviation Administration via the Airport Improvement Program. Funds will finance terminal building improvements as well as the installation of airport beacons. Additional improvements include apron reconstruction, and runway and taxiway rehabilitation.
“These vital infrastructure improvements will enable all those at MFE, from air traffic controllers to operations staff to pilots and flight attendants, to continue providing travelers with a safe and seamless flying experience,” says U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (D-McAllen).
McAllen Mayor Jim Darling echoes Gonzalez in the benefits for McAllen.
“The allocation of these funds will allow us to make significant improvements to the airport, and in turn, help us to attract more airlines and passengers,” he says.
