Milestones of 2017 for the City of McAllen highlight McAllen Mayor Jim Darling’s annual State of the City Address Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the McAllen Convention Center. Tickets to the event are sold out, but the event will be streamed and broadcast on television.
On the agenda are the economy as well as development around the city to enhance quality of life. Organizations will also receive recognition, including the the McAllen Police Department and McAllen Fire Department and their accomplishments of making the city one of the safest in Texas. According to the latest FBI–Uniform Crime Report, crime in McAllen is at a 33-year all-time low. Individuals will also receive recognition for their contribution to the overall success of the city, from safety to livability.
