Rural development receives $225K boost

Local rural areas will soon benefit from a $225,000 grant given to the University of Texas-Pan American from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program.

The funds will be used to support an existing center which will provide technical assistance and improve the economic condition of rural areas. It will assist entities or individuals through startup, expansion or operational improvement of rural cooperatives and other rural business entities. Total project cost is $295,596.
