UTRGV College of Engineering and Computer Science expands Brownsville offerings

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will soon be expanding its engineering and computer science programs at the Brownsville Campus. Beginning with the Fall 2016 semester, bachelor of science degrees in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science will be available to students at the Brownsville Campus. These new offerings will replace the Engineering Physics program, which served as a starting point to allow for more comprehensive engineering and computer science programs to be offered at the Brownsville Campus.

Master of science degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are also planned to be available to students on the Brownsville Campus. In addition, the college is planning a Biomedical Engineering minor to be included as an option in several Engineering and Computer Science degrees. This will provide the foundation for students interested in pursuing graduate Biomedical Engineering degrees.

“The College of Engineering and Computer Science has consistently sought to expand quality opportunities for the students of the Rio Grande Valley and further research initiatives that impact this region,” said Alex Domijan, dean of the college. “This expansion allows us to offer more courses in a broader range of engineering and computer science disciplines than have been provided at the Brownsville Campus in recent years.”
