Luis Reyes is the new Weslaco Chamber of Commerce board chair for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Reyes is the communications manager for Magic Valley Electrical Cooperative, a role in which he has served since 2011.

“The chance to serve our members and the Weslaco business community is a task I’m excited and eager to take on,” said Reyes. “Weslaco is the epicenter of so much growth and economic development, it’s important for me to continue the outstanding work the Chamber has accomplished these past years and use that momentum to build new opportunities for a bright and prosperous future.”

Reyes’s service to the Weslaco Chamber includes chairman of the nCourage Youth Program. The program provides high school students with an opportunity to observe and interact in the daily operations of a business. Reyes is also an alumni of Leadership Mid Valley Class VIII (2012-2013). Reyes’s service also includes roles in numerous organizations across the Valley. This includes South Texas ISD as a member of the Education Improvement Council.

At Magic Valley, he has developed innovative communication and marketing campaigns that have earned him several national awards. This includes those by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, including Gold award for Best Digital Storytelling and Silver award for Best Total Communications Program.
