DESCRIPTION:Families can be introduced to sign language\, deaf culture and even learn about careers in the deaf community at McAllen ISD’s DeafWorld 2024 on Sept. 27. \nThis free event\, which has a Super Hero theme\, takes place at McAllen ISD’s Brown Middle School gym and is organized by McAllen ISD’s Regional Day School for the Deaf Program. \n“We encourage everyone to come have some fun as they learn about deaf culture\, sign language\, deaf education\, careers\, resources and more\,” says RDSPD Director Liza Lara. \nMcAllen ISD serves more than 300 deaf and hard of hearing students in all grade levels in the Upper Rio Grande Valley from Mercedes to Roma. Escandon Elementary is home to elementary age deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Middle school age students go to Brown Middle School and high school age students go to McAllen Memorial High School. \nThe department also provides parent infant services. In addition\, Roosevelt Elementary houses the RDSPD’s new oral program and qualifying RDSPD students may attend McAllen ISD’s STRIDES 18+ program. \n\n\n	Related
