Alexandra Arevalo is the new interim director of the McAllen Convention & Visitors Bureau, also known as Visit McAllen. Arevalo has been with the bureau for two years, previously as a convention sales manager and currently as CVB McAllen director of sales. 

Prior to Arevalo’s time with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, she worked for the City of McAllen as an event coordinator for the Convention Center and Performing Arts Center. She began her career in the hospitality industry in Austin. Here she worked with a destination management company handling incentive travel for Fortune 500 companies. Arevalo graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. 

Arevalo says she looks forward to continuing in Robert Lopez’s footsteps.

“Robert Lopez, our current Convention & Visitors Bureau vice president, has done a fantastic job leading our team for the last few years and I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m confident we can carry on with Robert’s plan,” said Arevalo. “I am excited to continue to lead the team in a forward-thinking way.”
