STC Puts Out A Call for Art About Economics & Money

The South Texas College Library Art Gallery is hosting a call for artists to submit artwork on the theme of economics and money.

For inspiration, the gallery looks to Oxford-trained economist E. F. Schumacher’s book “Small is Beautiful: Economics as if People Mattered,” which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This New York Times bestseller teaches that economic growth must be responsibly balanced with the needs of communities and the environment. The book is listed as one of the Times Literary Supplement’s 100 Most Influential Books since World War II.

Artists are invited to create and display original artwork for an exhibition at the STC Pecan Campus Library Art Gallery Aug. 28 – Dec. 7. There will be a reception and awards on Oct. 4 from 5:30-7 p.m. where participants will get a chance to win first, second and third place prizes. Participation is free and open to the public. Artworks must include the color gold.

The deadline to submit artwork is July 31 at 5 p.m.

To participate, visit library.southtexascollege.edu/ka-ching to complete an entry form. Artists must deliver artwork to the South Texas College Library, Gina Otvos, Bldg. F Rm. 235, 3201 W Pecan Blvd., McAllen, TX 78501.
