Lemonade Day McAllen returns Oct. 29, allowing local kids to fulfill their dreams of being a business owner once again.
The community-wide educational program teaches youth the entrepreneurial skills necessary to start, own and operate their own business via a lemonade stand. However, volunteers, mentors, customers and businesses who can provide a safe stand location are needed to make the day a success.
The public can participate in a number of ways.
- Provide a prize for “The Entrepreneur of the Year,” the prize that will go to the stand that collects the most revenue. Organizers will create a basket of prize donations, making this option an easy way to promote a business.
- Offer a business as a location to bring attention to your business. Qualifying businesses must be in McAllen and have restrooms available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign up is available online.
- Encourage employees to register their children. Businesses can run internal contests with their employees or by creating a healthy sense of community involvement. Lemonade Day can provide template emails to send to employees.
- Help build awareness through word of mouth, marketing, store front decals, social media, employee family participation and company websites.
