The Friends of Quinta Mazatlan will host the Moon over Mazatlan 16th Anniversary Gala April 21 at Quinta Mazatlan. During the event, the non-profit organization will present Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa with The Legacy Award.

“We are thrilled to recognize Senator Hinojosa’s longtime support of and advocacy for educational initiatives in Texas.” said FoQM Board President Val LaMantia.

“I’ve always championed legislation and supported funding for initiatives that help students and adults with educational and enrichment opportunities — from early education, to STEM, to college, to medical school, to a Center for Urban Ecology and beyond,” said Hinojosa. “A good education should be the basic right of every child/person. It is one of the best equalizers and investments we can make today for our children.”

Sally Fraustro Guerra, chair of the gala, said the evening will feature a SALSA themed night under the stars with live music by Ache de Barrio and a dance program by Rhythm Room. Guests will experience the nostalgic flavors of Mexico with dinner by Salome on Main.
