The existing park, less than a mile away, has limited space available and the demand for Mid Valley industrialized growth has allowed the EDC to feel confident and secure in its investment.

“Being at the heart of your service area and minimizing empty miles is essential to a company’s commitment to their customers,” said EDC Vice President Juan J. “JJ” Serrano Jr.

EDC staff tout the fact that even prior to the day’s ceremonial event, almost 30 percent of the property is under contract. About 18 percent of the property is under serious interest through letters of intent. During the ceremony, Glazer’s Beer and Beverage announced its move to the park as well.

“A strategic and centralized location is key as the Mid Valley region continues to grow,” said EDC Executive Director Steven Valdez,

Also attending the groundbreaking was Weslaco Mayor David Suarez and EDC President Benita R. Valadez. Other local officials included Hidalgo County Commissioner David Fuentes, State Representative Armando “Mando” Martinez and Congressman Vicente Gonzalez.
