National Civics Bee – Brownsville Local Competition
The National Civics Bee in Brownsville is happening on April 13, starting at noon at the Brownsville Events Center. Share your support and cheer on finalists as they compete for local acclaim to advance to the state competition and win cash prizes.
The Brownsville Civics Bee is one of many pilot National Civics Bee competitions promoted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. At least 100 local middle school students participated in a first-round essay competition. Judges will select 20 students to advance to the local live competition: a live quiz event testing civics knowledge.
Students will be competing to win cash prizes and be named a Brownsville #NationalCivicsBee champion! Each finalist will receive a certificate.
- First Place: $500 cash prize
- Second Place: $250 cash prize
- Third Place: $125 cash prize
