
The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for Man and Woman of the Year for 2019. Robert and Janet Vackar, owners of Bert Ogden Auto Group, were the 2018 Man and Woman of the Year.
The chamber encourages everyone to nominate someone who exceeds in professional and civic commitment. They should also be avid in volunteerism within the community of Edinburg.
The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce Man & Woman of the Year should be a person who:
- Demonstrates exceptional personal commitment to civic endeavors outside of professional obligations.
- Provides valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community in the way of volunteerism.
- Demonstrates a commitment to his/her community by sharing of time and talent in ways that benefit the community or individuals within it.
- Demonstrates community service in civic or service organizations, non-profit boards, religious groups or other involvements. These include merchants’ associations, chamber of commerce or educational activities.
Nominees must also be an Edinburg resident, own a business in Edinburg or work in Edinburg. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 4. A resume must accompany the nomination. Forms to nominate Man and Woman of the Year will be available for download at edinburg.com. They are also available for pick up at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.
Installation Banquet
This year’s annual Installation Banquet takes place October 23 at 6 p.m. This year the event will take place at Marbel Event Center, 1102 E. Alberta Road. The banquet will recognize Hiren Govind with Best Western Plus Edinburg Inn & Suites as incoming president of the board for the chamber. Tickets to attend are $35, or $350 for a table of eight. Sponsorships are also available.
The chamber will also recognize the Chamber Ambassador of the Year, an Outstanding Leadership Award and Distinguished Business Awards.
