NAFTA issues that directly impact the border region will be the topics of discussion in a conference April 20 in McAllen.
The “Renegotiating NAFTA: Challenges and Opportunities” Conference aims to educate attendees on how NAFTA renegotiations could change the local quality of life in South Texas. The conference will include also roundtable discussions on strategies that are applicable in preparing for changes in NAFTA. Topics include investment and job creation, as well as ongoing prosperity.
“The conference is a truly bilingual/ binational event that brings together experts from both sides of the border to discuss how potential changes to NAFTA will affect the regional economy,” says Kevin Peek, an associate professor of Economics at South Texas College.
The conference takes place from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts, 3200 W. Pecan Blvd. There is no admittance fee and lunch will also be provided.
