The Mission Economic Development Corporation, Workforce Solutions and CyberMission host an Information Technology job fair on Aug. 11. The job fair is open to anyone with an interest in securing a job in the IT field.
From 2-5 p.m. at the Center for Education and Economic Development, nearly a dozen local and national companies will be on hand. Companies include Spectrum, DHR, Lacks, Mission Regional Hospital, UTRGV, various staffing agencies and more.
CEED is located at 801 North Bryan Road in Mission.
“We have a variety of companies lined up, who are looking for both entry-level and seasoned talent in this growing field,” said Daniel Rivera, director of Marketing and Programs at Mission EDC. “This will also be a great opportunity for our CyberMission cohort to connect with potential employers just as they are earning CompTIA certification.”
CyberMission is an IT initiative which the Mission EDC facilitates. The program in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission and made possible by funding through the Wagner-Peyser grant. Participants are granted free enrollment in CompTIA certification courses. This includes education, study material and a mentor to help guide them through the assigned coursework. After completion, participants may take the CompTIA certification exam to receive certification in one of several IT specialties.
“The Mission EDC and the CEED continue to be a valuable resource for IT professionals and cyber programs in the Rio Grande Valley,” said Aaron Gonzalez, business relations representative at Workforce Solutions. “We encourage anyone interested in a career in IT to come out and see what kind of positions are available for their skill level, and what they might require in order to advance in the field in the future.”
