Rio Grande Regional Hospital recently conducted its first TransCarotid Artery Revascularization procedure to treat carotid artery disease and prevent future strokes.  Before TCAR, the main treatment option for severe carotid artery disease was an open surgical procedure, carotid endarterectomy.
