As we dive into 2023, one of our challenges with managing businesses and organizations is scheduling the best use of time for ourselves and our departments. “This is easy,” said no one.
The priority of executive tasks consumes a substantial portion of our work day. Actually, the sharpest leaders map out a fluid plan before the work day starts. The allocation of which tasks are the highest priority and how much time each task requires creates another set of responsibilities. Helping department heads delegate, leading by example, their team members’ duties will all play a part of success for this calendar year.
Think time to play out expected production completion for jobs is a major planning responsibility we all face. Think time is as important as actual execution time. Realistic but aggressive deadlines for sales and production departments is the foundation of our organizations’ success. When should projects start, how long should phases last and determining the results are intertwined measurements toward success.
In many ways, these phases come together like art, not science. Just like in a lab, the goal is for all the chemicals to work together with no spills or leaks. Will there be drips and hiccups? Certainly. So a risk management phase must also be included as we manage our companies. Being prepared with resolution plans for the “what ifs” has to be in our front pocket and easily accessible.
Deep South Texas leaders, let’s have our troops ready for the days ahead as uncertainty is always certain. It’s go time — 2023 is our year to shine … together as a unified region. We are one. We are the Rio Grande Valley.
