The International Museum of Art & Science will host its second annual Members’ Juried Art Show this October through the end of December. The exhibition will feature original artwork submitted by IMAS members by Sept. 28.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming artwork from our IMAS members this year after an incredible response in 2021 for our first show. We had over 72 member artists submit over 100 artworks for the inaugural show and saw an array of talent, styles, and mediums in the exhibition,” said Amelia Whitehead, director of Collections & Exhibitions. “This year promises to be another strong show with great interest from our membership and the community.”
The exhibit will be juried by Diane Milliken Garza, executive director of the Brownsville Community Foundation Commissioner, who also serves as a commissioner for the Texas Commission on the Arts. Awards include Best of Show ($500), second place ($300), third place ($200), and three honorable mentions ($50).
Submission Requirements
Participating artists must be 18 years of age or older and a museum member in good standing. Member artists may submit up to two works of art created within the past three years. One work is guaranteed to be included in the exhibition and the other may be juried in. Up to two adults from the same household may participate if they have a Family membership. No work can be larger than four-feet-by-five-feet and must be movable by the artist. Sculptures must include a base or stand. Submissions must not include liquids, live plants or animals.
IMAS Members must drop off artwork either on Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists must include an application with their artwork.
