About “Blithe Spirit”

In “Blithe Spirit,” Charles and Ruth Condomine gather with their friends, the Bradmans, and the local eccentric medium, Madame Arcati, for a night of “ghostly” festivities. Skeptic at first, Charles soon finds out that Madame Arcati may not be the fraud that he initially thought, when the ghost of Charles’ first wife, Elvira, suddenly appears to haunt him after a “failed” séance. Unable to leave, Elvira becomes a nuisance in every sense of the word. In this comedy, Noël Coward combines farce, emotion and verbal wit to the great effect.
