The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its annual Awards Luncheon at the Memory Blvd. Event Center in downtown Weslaco. During the luncheon, the chamber awards local businesses, organizations and individuals who have demonstrated leadership and made substantial contributions to the city. 

Receiving Woman of the Year for 2021 is Sandra Charlton. Charlton currently serves on the Economic Development Corporation board as treasurer. She is also an active ambassador and champion for small businesses, as well as an avid volunteer in the City of Weslaco. Charlton is the owner of a CPA firm in Weslaco.

“I am truly honored to be awarded the Woman of the Year for 2021,” stated Charlton, “I am passionate in seeing Weslaco grow and thrive.”

“To have an individual that is part of the EDC Board to receive this prestigious award, it signifies the caliber of board members that serve on the EDC Board,” stated EDC Board President Benita R. Valadez.
