McAllen, Futuro RGV to Host Government for a Day

McAllenFuturo RGV, the City of McAllen and McAllen District 4 Commissioner Rudy Castillo host the first-ever “Government for a Day” initiative on April 6. The event is for all City of McAllen District 4 residents, symbolizes the city’s commitment to ensuring that every resident feels connected to the services available to them.

Government for a Day takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Palmview Community Center, 3401 Jordan Road West.

“I’m very proud that the first-ever ‘Government for a Day’ event will be in District 4,” said Dist. 4 Comm. Castillo. “I am excited for the residents in my district to see the hard-working work done by all the various City of McAllen departments that is ultimately, for the benefit of all of our residents.”

The event will serve as a platform for community members to familiarize themselves with various City of McAllen departments, including the City Secretary’s Office, Engineering, Health & Code Enforcement, Passport Division and more. The day addresses accessibility, understanding and community service. Additionally, various community agencies will participate, highlighting the range of services and information that residents will find beneficial.

The event opens with registration and complimentary breakfast. An opening ceremony will include remarks from City of McAllen elected officials, before inviting attendees to visit the various booths present at the event. From there, residents can engage in a question-and-answer session with City of McAllen administration and department directors. A complimentary lunch is also part of the day.

“The event recognizes the importance of City of McAllen services to the community, especially for the residents of District 4,” said Nedra Kinerk, president of Futuro RGV. “The purpose of the event is to ensure that every resident benefits from the wealth of resources the City of McAllen has to offer.”
