The City of McAllen will host a slew of patriotic festivities on July 4 during its Independence Day Celebration, presented by H-E-B.
The 97th annual Independence Day Celebration features an early morning 4K race at 7 a.m. At 8 a.m., the festivities kick-off with a musical Patriotic Program which will take place at Archer Park, 101 N. Main Street, followed by the Main Street Parade, running north along Main Street from Houston Avenue to Beech Avenue. Community members may bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and pets to enjoy the show. Free seating is available along the route; no open flames allowed. Both events are free to the entire public.
The day concludes with a fireworks and fun at Municipal Park, beginning at 6 p.m., with live music and food vendors and capped off by the H-E-B Concert in the Sky Fireworks Extravaganza at 9 p.m. The public can tune in to 710-AM KURV to enjoy the fireworks set to patriotic music. Attendees can bring picnic and lawn chair set-ups. For those who can’t make the fireworks show, watch it live on MCN 1300 and all of its streaming platforms.
“We encourage everyone to come together and help us celebrate America’s 250th birthday together as a community by participating in the Main Street Parade and enjoying all of the day’s festivities,” said Denny Meline, McAllen Parks and Recreation Department director. “The McAllen Parks and Recreation Department will be unveiling some unique, festive and patriotic floats this year and we hope this year’s entries reflect the excitement of being able to celebrate.”
