Public Invited to Design New Community

Killam workshopsKillam Development is inviting the public to participate in a series of design workshops the week of Jan. 13-17 to help plan a new community near Sharyland Plantation.

In a unique, hands-on design experience, people of all ages will help make decisions about quality of life issues. This includes walking and biking trails, park space, access to entertainment and more.

Consultants from Able City and Dover, Kohl & Partners will lead the workshops and focus groups. The group consists of professional architects, designers, land planners and artists. Then will then use the public’s input to help transform the centrally located property into a neighborhood where people want to live, work and play.

Public workshops take place at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 13, 15 and 17 at Mission CEED, 801 North Bryan Road. There will even be activities for kids and food for the entire family.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Kick-off: Hands-on Design — Jan. 13. After a quick introduction, the group will sit together to discuss how participants think Sharyland should grow.
  • Open-Studio Evening — Jan. 15.
  • Final Presentation (Your Work in Progress) — Jan. 17. This session gives a chance to see the fruits of participant labor and how Sharyland can be the perfect place to live, work, play and grow.
