On the heels of being ranked the No. 1 university in Texas for 2023-2024 by Washington Monthly, UTRGV now has earned top rankings by Hispanic Outlook on Higher Education Magazine in several categories.
The Hispanic Outlook will release the rankings in the annual “Hispanic Outlook Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics” edition, which features UTRGV as its cover story.
In the Top 100 Rankings
- Second in the Top 100 Total Bachelor’s Degrees Granted category.
- Third in Total Master’s Degrees Granted, a full position up from last year.
- Fourth in Total Enrollment for Four-Year Schools category, up from fifth place last year.
In the Top 10 Categories
- Second in the Top 10 Homeland Security Law Enforcement Firefighting and Related Protective Services.
- Third in English Language and Literature/Letters Degrees.
- Fourth in History Degrees.
- Fifth in Education.
- Seventh in Philosophy and Religious Studies degrees.
- Eighth in Engineering.
- Ninth in Business Management Marketing and Related Support Services.
- And 10th in Visual and Performing Arts Degrees.
The magazine annually compiles data on higher education national institutions that serve Hispanic/Latino/a students, prepping them in diverse fields of study and awarding degrees across various levels.
UTRGV President Guy Bailey said the national Hispanic Outlook rankings demonstrate UTRGV’s continued growth and highlight student success as the university’s top priority.
“We are proud of these rankings by Hispanic Outlook, as they help underscore our unfailing commitment to providing an affordable, high-quality education for our students,” Bailey said.
“These rankings show that we have stayed true to our core values as we work toward an increasingly prosperous future for our Valley community. Vaquero Nation really is the Future of Texas,” he said.
