STC Respiratory Therapy Program Re-Accredited

STC Respiratory TherapyThe Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care has reaffirmed South Texas College’s Respiratory Therapy Program accreditation for the next 10 years.

Following a thorough review, CoARC determined that Respiratory Therapy met all national established accreditation standards. It commended the program for its continuous quality in education. The reaffirmation was essential for the college so it can continue awarding its Respiratory Therapy Associate of Applied Science degree.

Accreditation by CoARC provides assurance to prospective students, their families and the general public that the program meets certain requirements. There are grounds to believe the program will continue to meet those standards in the future.

“Thanks to the leadership of Mr. Gabriel Pena, program chair, and the dedication of his faculty and staff, we will continue to ensure our ability to educate and credential our Respiratory Therapy students, and ensure that these credentials are recognized and valued,” said STC Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Dr. Jayson Valerio. “Accreditation is the most vital guarantee of South Texas College’s quality, rigor and integrity to our stakeholders.”

At its Dec. 2021 meeting, CoARC voted to reaffirm the accreditation. The recent accreditation review recognizes the program’s compliance with nationally established accreditation standards. The next comprehensive evaluation of the program, including an onsite review, will occur no later than 2031.
