UTRGV once again has been recognized as one of the best and most affordable public universities in the United States and Texas.

Washington Monthly recently released its annual national 2021 College Guide and Rankings, and ranked UTRGV high in the following categories:

  • First in Texas and second nationally among public universities for lowest net price of attendance for students whose household income is below $75,000.
  • First in Texas and third nationally among public universities for the performance of Pell Grant-eligible students.
  • Third in Texas and 55th nationally among public universities for the social mobility of students.
  • Fourth among public universities in the South Region (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee) for Best Bang for Your Buck.
  • Fourth in Texas and 73rd nationally for overall rankings among public universities.

UTRGV President Guy Bailey said national recognitions the university continues to earn are testaments to its commitment to student success.

“These rankings show that we are truly transforming the lives of our students, all while maintaining an affordable cost of attendance,” he said. “At UTRGV, we believe that you can obtain an outstanding education without mortgaging your future.

“We are proud to be consistently recognized by national publications like Washington Monthly, because these accolades reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty and staff.”

Washington Monthly ranks institutions of higher learning on the degree to which they recruit and graduate students of modest means, produce the scholarship and scholars that drive economic growth and human flourishing, and encourage students to be active citizens and serve their country.
