Food Bank RGV Hosts First Sunset Distribution

Stuart Haniff, CEO, Food Bank RGV with Robert Lucio, general manager of Boggus Ford McAllenThe Food Bank RGV is holding its inaugural Sunset Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry Sept. 16. From 4-7 p.m., or until they reach capacity, Food Bank RGV will distribute food to clients who are normally unable to attend during the regular DTEP hours due to work or school schedules. This one-day only Sunset DTEP distribution replaces the Food Bank RGV’s regularly scheduled Wednesday,  7-10 a.m. DTEP this week only.

This distribution is possible through the support of Boggus Ford McAllen.

The Sunset DTEP will follow the Food Bank RGV’s mobile drive-thru model with little or no contact. Staff, volunteers and the Boggus Auto Group team will assist with the distribution of food. Produce and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed into the vehicle trunks of attendees.

There will be a limit of two families (two people) per car to receive assistance. Recipients must show ID and proof of address. All vehicle occupants must wear face coverings and car trunks must be completely empty. Distribution will be first come, first served.

The Food Bank RGV’s DTEP distribution will resume normal hours again Sept. 23, 2020 at the Food Bank RGV from 7-10 a.m. or until they reach capacity.

The Food Bank RGV is planning to hold a Sunset DTEP distribution once a month.
